CBD Oil: Effects, Uses, and Facts

CBD Oil: How it cured my muscle pain from training

CBD Oil, or also called Cannabidiol, is a natural cannabinoid constituent of cannabis, which is derived from the hemp plant. CBD Oil does not contain Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC), which is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects. When CBD is derived from hemp, the CBD contains .3% or less of THC, the amount legally allowed to be sold.

Difference between hemp and marijuana

It is important to know the difference between hemp and marijuana. Hemp is a strain of the cannabis plant that is grown for agricultural products, including textiles, seeds, or oils. Marijuana, on the other hand, is a flowering plant that is bred for a higher content of THC, with the average content of THC being greater than 10%, making it illegal to be grown and sold in the United States.

CBD oil

CBD oil is made by being extracting CBD from the hemp plant, then diluting the CBD with an oil such as coconut or hemp seed oil. There have been shown to be many benefits to using CBD oil. The main benefits that have been scientifically proven including relieving pain, reduce anxiety and depression, alleviate cancer-related symptoms, reduce acne, might have neuroprotective properties, could benefit heart health, and several other potential benefits, such as antipsychotic effects, substance abuse treatment, anti-tumor effects, and diabetes prevention.

CBD effects and uses

When examining CBD oils’ effects on anxiety and depression, a study in Brazilian found that a 300-mg dose of CBD was most effective in helping reduce anxiety during a simulated public speaking test. The study also tested a CBD oil of a placebo, a 150-mg dose, and a 600-mg dose, all of these were found to have little effect on anxiety. CBD oil works by acting on an individual’s brain receptors for serotonin, which is a neurotransmitter that regulates one’s mood and social behavior. This is compared to antidepressants and benzodiazepines which are often used to treat depression and anxiety, which also interact with an individual’s serotonin levels.

What the studies show

In another study, cannabidiol was found to reduce symptoms of social anxiety in people suffering from a social anxiety disorder. This was examined with brain scans, which showed that changes in blood flow were found in regions of the brain that linked to feelings of anxiety. Not only did the cannabidiol make the participants of the study feel better, but it also changed how their brains responded to the anxiety. CBD has also been found to treat other anxiety disorders, such as panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. It is important to note, however, that while these studies have found sufficient evidence, these studies have only examined the short-term treatment of anxiety. Less is known about the long-term effects of using CBD oil to treat anxiety or other disorders, or how it can be used as a prolonged treatment.

How cannabinoids work

All cannabinoids, including CBD, work by attaching to certain receptors in the brain. The human body already produces certain cannabinoids on its own, which is important to note. The human brain contains two receptors for cannabinoids, which are called the CB1 receptors and the CB2 receptors. The difference between these two receptors is that the CB2 receptor is present throughout the body, with the majority being in the brain. This CB1 receptor is involved in actions and behaviors such as coordination and movement, pain, emotions, mood, thinking, appetite, memories, and much more. THC attaches to these receptors, which can cause the “high” that people experience when ingesting marijuana with high levels of THC. Looking at the other, CB2 receptor, this receptor is often found in the immune system and affects more inflammation and pain. Originally, researchers believed CBD would attach to the CB2 receptors, but it is now apparent that CBT does not directly attach itself to either the CB1 or CB2 receptors, but instead direct the body to use more of its own cannabinoids in the body to treat what needs to be treated.

Side effects

With most medications, there are some side effects to using CBD oil. These side effects include diarrhea, changes in appetite and weight, and fatigue. As always, individuals are encouraged to reach out to their doctor to discuss the use of CBD oil to help with the above benefits of CBD oil.

CBD: Facts and Common Misconceptions

Cannabidiol, or commonly referred to simply as CBD is a compound found in the cannabis plant. Some may relate the cannabis plant to its other chemical counterpart, THC which is the psychoactive compound found in some types of cannabis. With selective breeding practices, growers of this crop have been able to produce an almost THC free plant that just leaves the active CBD. This process eliminates the federally illegal substance of THC to less than 0.3%.

A History of Benefits

Hemp and CBD isn’t some new fad as of late. History shows that even the predominate people in history have grown the plant itself, as its fibers were used for the majority of rope and were also used as medicine. However, newer technologies let us extract the oils that contain rich CBD oils. There has been little time for researching this plant due to its legality around the world, but from what we have seen so far, there are many benefits that aren’t just your average fad supplement.

CBD and Anxiety

As a sufferer of anxiety disorder, I had read the benefits a lot of people had experienced with it. I was skeptical like anyone should be with anything they put in their bodies, but the reviews weren’t just for adults, but greatly impactful for even children with positive results. I decided to try the oils from a well-known supplier. At first, it was a subtle onset of relaxation, but a very mellow and non-lethargic kind; the kind I could still go shopping or running errands just find. For the first time in a long time, I found a sense of ease from my anxiety. It was almost like a breath of fresh air. I was still skeptical of the longer-term aspects of using CBD (like anyone with anxiety would do), so I did more research. I found that not only has this been around for the past couple of centuries, but the plant itself has been used for as long as ten thousand years ago!

CBD Extract

Though the act of extracting CBD has only been around since the 1940s, it is astonishing that we are still using this powerful plant In recent studies with the use of CBD, it has shown to dramatically increase the daily lives of childhood epilepsy. It not only reduced seizures in the majority of patients, but some patients even had their seizures completely vanish! This is outstanding news and is backed by professional double-blind studies from accredited universities across the world. The greatest news is, it doesn’t stop there. The more I read and researched, the more and more I found studies that pointed to CBD being extremely beneficial.

A Natural Alternative

It isn’t only being great at helping certain conditions, but a lot of people are freeing themselves from potentially harmful pharmaceuticals or from adverse reactions they get from them. In other studies, CBD has shown to greatly impact the well being of many people with diverse ailments. Even cancer patients are finding CBD to be an outstanding resource when dealing with the sickness from chemotherapy. Some even report that CBD has helped them get off of prescription pain medications. Now we are getting serious. Now the issue resides with the FDA. Currently, the FDA has not approved its use medicinally, so for anyone wanting to try this, it won’t be as easy as a prescription.

However, in recent years it has become so common that most states allow it’s sale in gas stations and even their own CBD stores that only sell those products. That says a lot to the magnitude of people who find the benefits of using CBD.

Is CBD Safe?

You may be asking, “is it safe”? As far as my research has concluded, there hasn’t been any severe implication with people using CBD. Some studies show CBD can cause levels of some prescription medicine to rise, so as someone who isn’t a doctor, I would advise you to at least speak to your doctor before deciding to try it. This is not to say that CBD is a cure-all. I still take medication for anxiety, as it is severe, but I always keep a bottle of it in the cabinet, right next to the aspirin and other common medications we all have stored away for when we need them. Unless I read other studies that say otherwise, it will be treated like any other common medicine I use.

  1. I have really bad menstrual cycle cramps. They were terrible and OTC as well as doctor prescribed medications often did nothing to ease the misery. The pain was so severe that during my monthly cycle I was often unable to work or enjoy time with the family. Recently a friend of mine suggested using CBD oil drops. I took her advice and since using the CBD oil, my cramping is noticeably less painful and I feel less bloated.

    my experience
The bio-individuality of each person is so fascinating to me! I take mine at night too and haven’t noticed a flare up in my insomnia BUT I have noticed that I sleep for less hours than I used to. I wake up pretty alert about 2-3 hours earlier than I normally would. Not sure if that’s because I’m getting better quality sleep or if it’s triggering that same alertness that you seem to be experiencing.

And girl, I can SO relate to that awful feeling of no amount of ZzQuil / melatonin being able to take me down off a fierce insomnia bender. It’s like my brain and body chemistry just override anything you can put in me. Cheers to keeping our minds open to new remedies and thanks for being so candid with your experience!!

However, many CBD products contain trace amounts of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), marijuana’s main active ingredient. If enough THC is present, it will show up on a drug test. This means that in rare cases, using CBD might lead to a positive drug test.

  4. This is an amazing product with helps me to relax and focus on any task at hand. You will find this to help you with inflammation and other ailments which seem to always hang around. 5. Hello my name is Bree. I just wanted to share my experience with CBD. I am a female, 30 years old and I am an avid soapmaker. When I first discovered CBD I instantly made a batch of soap using the CBD oil. After the batch was finished, I tested a bar and my skin was so smooth to the touch! I have also tried the CBD pills as well as the CBD gel capsules. The CBD gummies are delicious if you get the right brand. I suffer from chronic pain and nerve damage and it helps me manage my pain in a substancially better way. I would definitely prefer it over pills! I am very satisfied with my experiences with CBD. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural remedy used for just about any common ailment. The THC is what is considered to be “psychoactive.” CBD is not considered psychoactive.

  6. Cannaboid oil is the most amazing thing, especially for me. I have manic depression and have a severe physical ailment in my right foot. So for me using the CBD method it has helped a great deal. Instead of smoking the CBD method I can just take a pill form and everything is better for me. I like that with CBD method I can conquer anything in life. I feel on top of the world. CBD is better than taking a man made narcotic pill form. No real side effects, except I tend to have an increase in my appetite.

  7. I’d learned about what CBD Oil was good for when I was 21. That being said, I deemed it necessary to begin taking steady treatments to cure my anxiety. It is a completely different thing than what people expect. It helps with sleeping buy like with all things needs to be taken in moderation. I just hope I can continue to make waves in my recovery.

  8. I have a dog who gets seizures sometimes. He will suddenly start to shake and his tongue will do strange things and he just looks so helpless. His vet offered to give us medication for it that was outrageously priced. I did some research and found that CBD oil can stop dog seizuers. I’d never tried it myself, only marijuana, so I was a bit nervous to try it but wanted to help my pup however I could. I decided to order some online after lots of research and when his next seizure started, I opened his mouth and put 3 little drops on his tongue. Within LESS than a minute his shakes were stopped and he had completely calmed down. I was shocked! I couldn’t believe the vet never recommended this form of treatment, instead only offering me expensive pills that I’d have to force down his throat every day. We have been using this method for almost a year now and he’s happy and healthy.

  9. I’ve heard a lot of good and bad things about CBD Oil so I was skeptical to try it but I was so happy when I finally did. It has been the best thing to really help my pain and there have been no side effects for me. It’s amazing.

  10. I first tried CBD last year as an alternative to my arthritis medications, and I have found that it works well for mild to moderate pain but it doesn’t help much on the most severe pain days.

  11. I started using CBD about a year ago to help with my back. I have sciatica and my back has been hurting for so long. I bought some CBD cream that has helped tremendously. I no longer get the shooting pain whenever I am walking around anymore. It is great.

  12. When I use CBD, my while body feels like Jell-O pudding. I feel so relaxed as if Bill Cosby is whispering sweet nothings in my ear as I easily drift to sleep from the CBD. I feel like the opposite of Jeffrey Epstein when he was found in his cell. If I could have a an IV connected to my body pumping CBD into my veins, I would do it without hesitation. There are literally no drawbacks found by science yet. I haven’t researched though.

  13. My wife and I both take CBD oil, in an MCT-oil based formulation, 25 mg/20ml (5X). She is a chronic pain patient; I take it for social anxiety. It seems to help both of us quite a bit. Her horse’s appetite has also benefited from CBD drops on horse treats – he is high-strung, and the CBD seems to settle him a down a bit so he eats better.

  14. I just started using CBD the other day when I saw it at my local grocery store. They had a brief brochure of all the benefits that it could help, once I saw anxiety and sleep I had to try it. I got a glass bottle with a dropper instructing me to put a couple drops under the tongue when needed. I couldn’t believe how quickly my anxiety melted away and I was able to fall asleep! My insomnia was no match for the CBD oil. It was nothing like I expected, no buzz or anything just a general feeling of relaxation. I can see this changing my life for the better as time goes on.

  15. My mom was in a car accident that left her with a lot of pain and inflammation and the doctors want to operate. I ordered some CBD cream for her and it has really helped. She might not have to get surgery after all, it’s been helping her a lot. She was a little nervous at first because it’s related to marijuana but after one week of using the pure CBD cream she will not give it up. There’s no other product out there that has helped her like this. I use it for an old shoulder injury. For 15 years I just lived with the pain but now there’s no 0ain at all as long as I keep using CBD regularly.
